Agricultural University of Athens (AUA)

The AUA team has a great experience in insects’ biodiversity and taxonomy and has been making relevant contributions to Greek agricultural and economic development, by conducting basic and applied research in the agricultural sciences, involving in many European and national projects. The Agricultural University of Athens comprises 7 Faculties and 35 Laboratories and it has been making relevant contributions to Greek agricultural and economic development, by conducting basic and applied research in the agricultural sciences. The Laboratory of Agricultural Zoology and Entomology is one of the oldest (est. in 1920) and it is involved in studying injurious and beneficial insects, mites, and nematodes in relation to agriculture (identification, biology, ecology, management, genetics etc). It is equipped with laboratorial rooms and offices for educational, research and administrative needs, as well as a laboratory of molecular techniques. In addition, its facilities include rooms with 10 growth chambers (400-1200L), two greenhouses and two controlled condition insectaries, a precision spraying tower, Electrical Penetration Graph Monitor, Olfactometer, etc.
