Exploring the impact of RF-EMF exposure on planetary health

ETAIN validates and develops approaches to assess impact of electromagnetic fields from a planetary health perspective, while exploring options for exposure reduction.

Following a citizen science paradigm, communities take an active role in scientific investigation

ETAIN’s three wider impacts:

Societal
impact

Citizens will become more empowered to further understand RF-EMF (Radiofrequency Electromagnetic Fields) in pursuit of a healthier living and working environment by knowing about the effects of exposure.

Scientific
impact

With new scientific evidence on the effects of RF-EMF on humans, ecosystem and planetary health, ETAIN will directly address key scientific questions concerning health effects of RF-EMF informing about new policies and regulations.

Economic / Technological impact

The exposure maps, front-end reduction techniques, and exposure-aware app can support mobile network operators, hardware designers and optimizers to balance the need for low exposure to RF-EMF with the increasing data demand resulting from more and more users and equipment connected to the Internet.

In order to collect impressions on electromagnetic exposure across Europe, we launched a brief survey to get a glance of citizens' interaction with wireless communication technologies and 5G on a daily basis.

ETAIN is part of the CLUE-H cluster around Electromagnetic Fields, Health Risks and 5G

The CLUE-H network involves more than 70 European research organizations in four research consortia (ETAIN, GOLiAT, NextGEM, SEAWave)
